WHAT IS ROTARY?

Rotary is a global network of 1.4 million neighbors, friends, leaders, and problem-solvers who see a world where people unite and take action to create lasting change – across the globe, in our communities, and in ourselves. Find out more here.

WHO WE ARE

The Rotary Club of Chapel Hill provides service to the community. We do this by serving meals at the Ronald McDonald House, recognizing the area’s best school principals and assistant principals, cleaning up the environment, sponsoring high school kids’ leadership skill building, and helping out our partner club of students at UNC-Chapel Hill. We also do lots of other services!

Our members are university affiliates, bankers, young professionals, retired folks – and other regular people – who are committed to making a difference in the community and the world!

CULTIVATING YOUTH LEADERSHIP

The Rotary Club of Chapel Hill has a strong tradition of supporting youth leadership programs such as Rotaract and RYLA.

In 2015, our club sponsored the creation of the UNC Rotaract Club. Rotaract is a program that allows young adults aged 18-30 to participate in Rotary through community service and leadership activities. Our ongoing mentorship project with the Rotaract students continues to be a huge success.

Rotary Youth Leadership Awards (RYLA) is a program that encourages servant leadership in youth by recognizing and rewarding deserving 11th-grade students who are chosen to attend RYLA as an “award” for their past and present leadership and service activities. These select young people attend an all-expenses-paid camp where they are inspired by a diverse group of exceptional speakers, make life-long friends through fellowship activities, and discuss the ethical and social issues of today. The result is that these students return to their schools and communities motivated to take on additional leadership roles and to find additional ways to serve.

CURRENT NEWS AND EVENTS

U.N.C. HOSPITAL KIOSK NOW FULLY OPEN!

WE ARE PART OF THIS!

August 28 was the unveiling of new rooms and the new Neonatal Critical Care Unit at UNC Children's Hospital, and it is beautiful! The hospital will begin moving babies in over the next few weeks, and Ronald McDonald House Charities will be having the kiosk fully open with volunteers starting at the beginning of September.

According to Amy Kelley, who manages UNC Hospital programs for RMHC, "Everyone at the hospital and at RMHC is excited about the construction being completed, and the kiosk will now be what everyone who enters walks past, as well as being accessible for the new NICU families."

Our club and our partner clubs need to raise about $30,000 more to complete the funding of this project.
