CULTIVATING YOUTH LEADERSHIP
The Rotary Club of Chapel Hill has a strong tradition of supporting youth leadership programs such as Rotaract and RYLA.
Rotary Youth Leadership Awards (RYLA) is a program that encourages servant leadership in youth by recognizing and rewarding deserving 11th-grade students who are chosen to attend RYLA as an “award” for their past and present leadership and service activities. These select young people attend an all-expenses-paid camp where they are inspired by a diverse group of exceptional speakers, make life-long friends through fellowship activities, and discuss the ethical and social issues of today. The result is that these students return to their schools and communities motivated to take on additional leadership roles and to find additional ways to serve.
U.N.C. HOSPITAL KIOSK NOW FULLY OPEN!
WE ARE PART OF THIS!
August 28 was the unveiling of new rooms and the new Neonatal Critical Care Unit at UNC Children's Hospital, and it is beautiful! The hospital will begin moving babies in over the next few weeks, and Ronald McDonald House Charities will be having the kiosk fully open with volunteers starting at the beginning of September.
According to Amy Kelley, who manages UNC Hospital programs for RMHC, "Everyone at the hospital and at RMHC is excited about the construction being completed, and the kiosk will now be what everyone who enters walks past, as well as being accessible for the new NICU families."
Our club and our partner clubs need to raise about $30,000 more to complete the funding of this project.
